Other PT Services

Trinity Wellness Center‘s highly-skilled clinicians are trained in various treatment approaches, assessment tools, and interventions that enhance traditional physical therapy to give our clients the best opportunity for healing.  We are committed to staying up to date with the latest research and rehab trends so that we can provide the very best care for our patients.

Dry Needling, Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM), Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation, and Cupping are all modalities that aid in loosening tight muscles, desensitizing hypersensitive nerves, and strengthening weakened muscles.

Functional Movement Screening (FMS), Postural Restoration, and Neuro Physical Therapy are specialized approaches to rehabilitation that greatly benefit certain patient populations beyond what traditional rehab would provide.

We offer Dance / Gymnastics Rehabilitation, Neuro Physical Therapy, Vestibular Rehabilitation, and Concussion Rehabilitation.

We are so proud of our amazing staff and our ability to offer these specialized physical therapy services for our patients.

Dry Needling

At Trinity Wellness Center, we practice Integrative Dry Needling.  This approach involves placing small, sterile, disposable needles into the affected tissue or the surrounding area.  The needles cause a local inflammatory response that increases blood flow and stimulates the body’s natural healing reaction.  The result can be relaxing of muscles and trigger points, desensitization of nerves, and decreased swelling.

Dry Needling is very effective in treating sprains, strains, muscle spasm, nerve irritation, headaches, and muscle / joint pain.  Whether acute or chronic, it allows a therapist to target deep or stubborn areas that have not responded to other techniques.  We offer dry needling as part of a comprehensive rehab plan or as an isolated service.

Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization

The Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (SASTM) Method, developed by David Graston, uses a ceramic instrument to detect and release adhesions or bound up tissue.  SASTM has proven to be highly effective and the clinicians at Trinity Wellness Center have had good success using it in treating stubborn or chronic conditions.

Blood Flow Restriction Rehabilitation

Blood Flow Restriction (BFR) Rehabilitation is a game changer in injury recovery.  BFR is a technique that combines low intensity exercise with blood flow occlusion that produces similar results to high intensity training.  Some benefits of BFR include:

  • Diminished atrophy and loss of strength
  • Increased muscle hypertrophy and endurance
  • Safely builds muscle in individuals that cannot tolerate higher loads

We use the Owens Recovery Science method and the Personalized Tourniquet System by DELFI.

Cupping

Cupping Therapy dates back to ancient cultures and involves a therapist putting special cups on your skin to create a local suction.  This causes a stretching or massage effect, which can help reduce pain or inflammation, improve circulation, and decrease muscle tension.  Cupping can serve as an alternative to massage or SASTM by pulling the skin and tissue upward.  This strategy can be helpful in relieving pain due to muscle spasm and nerve or tendon entrapment.  Mild bruising may form where the cups are applied but it typically resolves within a couple of days.

Functional Movement Screen (FMS)

The Functional Movement Screen is a 7-part movement assessment that consists of balance, mobility, and stability tasks.  Trinity Wellness Center clinicians regularly utilize this test throughout the rehab process to guide exercise programming, monitor improvement, and to detect any movement patterns that may lead to future injury.

The FMS is widely used across professional sports to evaluate injury risk due to poor biomechanics.

Postural Restoration

Postural Restoration is a unique approach that complements traditional physical therapy to address the imbalances and asymmetries that develop in our body over time.  Individuals with overdevelopment of certain muscles, uneven shoulder or rib height, or curvature of the spine may benefit from these techniques.
